Pregnancy & Post-partum

Pregnancy & Postpartum Nutrition, Guided by a Doctor

Pregnancy and the months after birth bring a flood of advice — from family, from Instagram, from whichever app you downloaded at 2am — and very little of it is tailored to what your body actually needs at each stage. Whether you’re newly pregnant, weeks from your due date, or months into recovery and still not feeling like yourself, generic advice rarely fits.

I’m Dr. Akanksha Sharma, a physician (MBBS, MD in Preventive Medicine) working with Indian and South Asian mothers in Singapore and India. Every programme here is trimester- or stage-specific, built around your bloodwork, symptoms, and recovery — not a one-size-fits-all “pregnancy diet.”

What makes these plans different

Doctor-led, not generic. Nutrition is built around your trimester, birth history, and any complications — not a template.

Built for South Asian mothers. Meal plans use foods and routines already familiar to you, grounded in what the evidence actually supports.

Evidence-based. Guidance follows current clinical nutrition research, translated into practical daily meals.

Recovery-focused, not just baby-focused. Postpartum programmes address your healing, energy, and lactation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I eat during each trimester of pregnancy?

Nutritional needs shift across pregnancy — early on, nausea and folate needs dominate; by the third trimester, iron, calcium, and calorie needs rise as the baby grows fastest. Nourish Nine is built trimester-by-trimester rather than using one plan for all nine months.

How soon after birth should I start a postpartum nutrition plan?

Postpartum recovery nutrition can start as soon as you’re home from hospital — the first 45 days focus on healing, replenishing iron and nutrient stores lost during birth, and supporting milk supply if you’re breastfeeding. The Healing Mother programme is designed specifically for this window.

Can diet really affect my milk supply?

Yes — hydration, adequate calorie intake, and specific nutrients (like protein and certain micronutrients) play a measurable role in milk production and quality, though supply is also affected by feeding frequency and other factors. NURTURE addresses both the mother’s recovery and lactation support together.

What is the “fourth trimester” and why does it need its own nutrition plan?

The fourth trimester refers to the first three months after birth, when a mother’s body is still recovering physically while adapting to new demands like feeding and disrupted sleep. Nutrition needs during this window differ from both pregnancy and later postpartum months, which is why NURTURE treats it as a distinct phase.

Do you work with mothers outside Singapore?

Yes. While based in Singapore, consultations are available for Indian and South Asian mothers internationally over video call — book a free consultation to check availability.
